Adipocyte shedding by ultrasound-like effect

Overweight and obesity are attracting the attention of an increasing number of research teams at a time when lifestyle is characterized by unbalanced diet, daily stress and an excessively sedentary lifestyle. Phenomena promoting the formation and progression of adipose tissue (hypoxia, oxidation, inflammatory reaction, destruction of the extracellular matrix) have been demonstrated in the context of adipogenesis.

SEDERMA presents PHYTOSONIC™, a product designed to combat hypertrophy of adipose tissue by acting on pre-adipocytes and mature adipocytes.
PHYTOSONIC™ is from vegetal origin and is inspired from the new anti-cellulite technologies of ultrasound cell lysis. PHYTOSONIC™ is able to selectively detach hypertrophied adipocytes without destroying them.

The properties of PHYTOSONIC™ enable to target slimming not only at cellular level but also at tissue level, as demonstrated, for the first time, by a three-dimensional reconstructed hypodermis model. A clinical study was carried out on 27 female volunteers who applied twice-daily a cream containing 3% PHYTOSONIC™ for 2 months.

The results obtained showed the efficacy of PHYTOSONIC™ on stubborn cellulite with a very significant decrease, up to 69%, in adipose tissue infiltration into the dermis after 2 months of treatment. The ultrasound determinations showed a very significant decrease in adipose tissue thickness in the thigh and knee. Therefore, it resulted in a mean reduction in thigh circumference of 1 cm and a reduction of up to 2 cm vs. the untreated thigh.
